Kelowna Stands with Standing Rock Rally
On November 6th 2016, residents of Kelowna all came together in support and show of solidarity of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe of North Dakota, as the tribe attempts to stop construction on an oil pipeline. The $3.8-billion Dakota Access Pipeline is intended to carry oil from North Dakota to Illinois. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe says the pipeline will threaten its drinking water and cultural sites. Protests and Rallies were held across the world to show support for the Tribe.
