"Never have I dealt with anything more difficult than my own soul"

March 27, 2015

Over the last 3 months, I have been dilligently working a large series of new work in the format of a photo essay. The concept stems from personal experience and I wanted to express myself through my work in an evocative manner to connect with my viewers on a personal level.

The nature of this essay is based on a wide spread and sensitive topic for some. Viewer discretion is advised and some scenes have been exaggerated for the sake of art and to make an impacting statement.

For my essay topic, I chose to present on an illness that has impacted all or most of us at one point in our lives, whether it be fleeting or long term, we all know this illness I am addressing as "Depresssion". For myself having personally been impacted and still am, addressing this issue in an evocative manner is highly important to me. The concept stemmed from my own personal experiences living with depression. I wanted to show the side of depression that nobody talks about or adresses through my imagery. I wanted to communicate and express the mentality side of it and how it affects peoples thoughts and emotions internally.

This piece of work is very personal and emotion based and I hope you will take the time to take a look at my essay through my you tube channel. Link located below....
